Management

The PEGASOS operational management structure is a 5-level hierarchy: the General Assembly, the Coordinator, the Steering Group, the four Scientific Themes and the 17 scientific Work Packages. At all hierarchy levels, decisions are made by consensus, whenever possible. The WP-level is particularly important as the WPs are the major sub-divisions of the project and each WP has verifiable end-points and deliverables.

The General Assembly (GA) is the ultimate decision-making body of the consortium. It is responsible for the overall direction of the project and is composed of one duly authorized representative of each Partner
Project Coordinator and Project Office. Prof. Spyros Pandis is the coordinator of PEGASOS and the Project Office is located at FORTH, Greece and benefits from FORTH’s infrastructure and management experience. The Project Office assists the Coordinator in the day-to-day management of PEGASOS.

Steering Group (SG). The SG oversees the integration and completion of the project objectives. The SG consists of the project coordinator and leading scientists of the four Scientific Themes of PEGASOS (total of 3 females, 6 males) with complementary expertise.

Advisory Board (AB). A board of scientific and policy experts will advise the Steering Group and Coordinator on achieving the project objectives and using the scientific project products. Advisors are also chosen to ensure the exchange of information with other relevant national and international research activities (including ongoing EU-projects) and to maximize the impact of the project.

Theme and Work Package Leaders. PEGASOS scientific work is organized in four scientific Themes and 17 WPs combining the multidisciplinary scientific expertise of PEGASOS partners. The Leaders of each of the four Themes of PEGASOS together with the WP leaders will assure the good coordination of scientific work within the Theme and fast communication between WP leaders of the Theme.

Financial Management

The coordinating organisation FORTH manages the financial aspects of the project following the Contract rules and the GA decisions. All individual cost statements will be collected and submitted to the EC. Financial audits will be organized according to the EC rules.

Addition of participants during the project

The full implementation plan and budget of PEGASOS and its participants are known from the beginning. The PEGASOS consortium is open to having Associated Partners join at a later stage; however, this will not impact the project finances. Addition of Associate Partners will be agreed first by the SG, and will then be approved by the GA.

Management of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) is addressed in the PEGASOS Consortium Agreement (CA).
